Tips for writing a great resume
Include relevant personal information
Be sure to include important contact information. Some jobs require you to live near your workplace. In this case, remember to include your address too.
Describe related work experiences in detail
Don't just write a line on what you did previously. If it's relevant to the job you are applying for, write down the job scope of your previous job too. For example, instead of just writing "Administrative Assistant" under your work experience, you could include "handling large amounts of data entry" or "coordinating tasks between various departments" if it's relevant.
If you have any other achievements in your previous job, such as receiving a testimonial, commendation, or winning an employee award, remember to write these down too.
Include related qualifications, awards and experiences
Many people list down their formal education experiences but fail to include relevant qualifications outside of formal education. For example, if you have taken a computing class outside of school and this is relevant to your job, be sure to include it.
Also, if you've won any awards whether in school for CCA or outside of school, be sure to list them down too if they're relevant to the job you are applying for.
Include relevant skills
If the job you are applying for requires you to use software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, or Adobe Photoshop, be sure to write it down in your resume if you are familiar with these software.
Does your job have any language requirement? Many Singaporeans are bilingual but few can communicate in both English and their mother tongues fluently. If this is a skill you possess, be sure to write it down too.
